What second PC do you need for DMA?

The second machine does all the work, which makes people buy far more of it than they need. Here is what actually costs something, and what does not.

01What it is actually doing

The second PC reads memory arriving from the card, turns it into entities, draws an overlay, runs your Lua scripts and sends aim to the mouse device. It does not render the game, and it does not render anything heavy: the overlay is lines, boxes and text.

That is why the usual shopping list is wrong. A graphics card changes nothing here. What helps is a CPU that is not a decade old, enough RAM to be comfortable, and USB ports that work.

02What to look for

  • CPU - any modern dual or quad core. The reading loop is bound by the link and by the game, not by raw compute.
  • RAM - 8 GB is plenty. 16 GB if you want to stop thinking about it.
  • USB - a free port for the card (USB-C or USB-A with the right cable), and another if your aim device is serial.
  • Screen - whatever you already have. Reading an overlay on a laptop screen beside the monitor is the normal way to use it.
  • Disk - the loader and a build; it is small.

Windows 10 or 11.

03Laptop or desktop

A laptop is the common choice and a good one: it comes with its own screen, it sits next to your monitor, and it is easy to put away. Any office laptop from the last few years is enough.

A desktop works too, and is the better answer if you already have an old one on a shelf. The only thing it needs is to be close enough for the cable to the card to reach.

04Network

The second PC needs the internet to sign in and fetch the build, and - if you use a KMBox Net - a path to that box on the local network.

The web controls, the config sharing and the web radar all run from your account, so the same connection covers them.

05What you do not need

  • A graphics card. The overlay is 2D drawing, not a game.
  • A fast disk. Nothing streams from it.
  • A second monitor for the game PC. The overlay is on the second machine.
  • A powerful machine at all, really: the card does the reading and the game does the playing.

06Questions

Can I use a laptop as the second PC?
Yes, and most people do. Any office laptop from the last few years is enough: it brings its own screen and sits beside the monitor.
Does the second PC need a graphics card?
No. It draws an overlay made of boxes, lines and text, not a game.
How much RAM?
8 GB is plenty, 16 GB if you want margin.
Can I run it on a mini PC?
Yes, as long as it has the USB ports for the card and, if you use one, the serial aim device.
Does the second PC need to be on the same network as the game PC?
Only if your aim device is a KMBox Net, which is reached over the network. The card itself is a cable.
